Parent Leadership Training
Parent Leaders are vital to strong family-school partnerships in special education. Parent Leaders support their schools and districts by serving on school improvement efforts, assisting with collaboration among parents and educations, supporting the school district with school board meetings and as a resource to other parents and teachers. NH Connections’ Parent Leadership Training provides an opportunity to learn more about how to be a leader in increasing family-school partnerships. The Parent Leadership Training helps parents gain the leadership skills needed to effectively work with school districts to increase family-school partnerships in special education. Parent Leaders will:
- Increase knowledge of the special education system so they may effectively support school improvement at the local and state level
- Increase knowledge of the research based strategies regarding parent involvement and why parent involvement in children’s education is important
- Gain strategies and skills to increase family-school partnerships in special education
- Create an individual action plan in which to work with their child’s school/school district to increase family-school partnerships in special education
